Mercedes Benz

Mercedes-Benz, also known as simply Mercedes or occasionally as Benz, is a German luxury and commercial vehicle automaker founded in 1926. The headquarters of Mercedes-Benz AG, a 2019 subsidiary of the Mercedes-Benz Group, are located in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Mercedes-Benz AG manufactures premium cars for consumers as well as commercial vehicles with the Mercedes-Benz logo. Heavy commercial vehicles (trucks and buses) with the Mercedes-Benz brand will be controlled by Daimler Truck starting in November 2019. Daimler Truck was once a division of the Mercedes-Benz Group but became a separate business in late 2021. Mercedes-Benz sold 2.31 million passenger cars in 2018, making it the most popular luxury vehicle brand globally.

The high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz AG is Mercedes-AMG GmbH, sometimes referred to as AMG. To personalize Mercedes-Benz AMG automobiles, AMG recruits engineers on its own and enters into agreements with producers. In Affalterbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, the business is headquartered.

Mercury

The American automaker Ford Motor Company's Mercury division is no longer in operation. Mercury, which Edsel Ford founded in 1938, acted as Ford's mid-priced brand for for all of its history, spanning the cost difference between the Ford and Lincoln model lines. The brand battled with General Motors' Buick and Oldsmobile for many years, as well as with Chrysler's own brand (following the closure of DeSoto).

Merkur

From 1985 until 1989, the Lincoln-Mercury subsidiary of Ford Motor Company offered the Merkur (German pronunciation: [mku], Mercury) line of cars. Merkur, which got its name from the German term for Mercury, sold captive imports made by the German subsidiary of Ford of Europe to North American consumers of European executive vehicles.

Merkur was one of the least successful car brands in the contemporary American auto industry when Lincoln-Mercury discontinued it after the 1989 model year. It only lasted one more model year than Ford's previous, more notable failure, the Edsel.

Morris

A British privately held automobile manufacturer named Morris Motors Limited was established in 1919 to acquire the assets of William Morris's WRM Motors Limited and go on with the same vehicle production. Its output accounted for 42% of British automobile manufacturing by 1926, a remarkable pace of growth that was attributable to William Morris's approach of importing both major and small components and putting them together in his own plant. Morris Motors was self-financing thanks to its enormous profits, but the company did borrow money from the general public in 1926.
