Origins and Development
The Eagle name was derived from the AMC Eagle, a four-wheel-drive vehicle introduced for the 1980 model year. This vehicle was one of the first modern mass-production crossover vehicles. The Eagle brand included a variety of models, many of which were rebadged versions of cars from other manufacturers, including Mitsubishi and Renault3.
Key Models
Eagle Premier: Developed with Renault, this front-wheel-drive sedan was introduced in 1988 and was known for its advanced suspension and aerodynamics.
Eagle Talon: A sporty coupe produced in two generations from 1990 to 1998, with more than 200,000 units produced.
Eagle Vision: Introduced in 1993, this sedan was part of Chrysler's LH platform and was known for its spacious interior and advanced features.
Decline and Discontinuation
Despite some successful models, the Eagle brand struggled to establish a strong identity and market presence. The brand was discontinued in 1998 as part of Chrysler's restructuring efforts.
