Zaz
The primary automaker in Ukraine is called ZAZ, or Zaporizhzhia Automobile Building Plant, and it is located in the city of Zaporizhzhia in the country's southeast. It is recognized by the name of its former parent firm, AvtoZAZ, and also manufactures buses and trucks.
The facility is said to have been founded around 1863. The business, which ultimately became the Melitopol Motor Plant, was established in 1908. (MeMZ). The old Abram Koop facility was renamed the Communar in 1923. The Zaporizhia Automobile Plant started receiving engines from the Melitopol Motor Plant in 1960. Since 1975, MeMZ has become a component of the manufacturing association "AvtoZAZ". It now serves as one of the PJSC "ZAZstructural "'s components. The factory was renamed "Zaporizhia Automobile Plant" in 1961. The factory produced only one vehicle, the ZAZ-965, which became known as the "humpbacked Zaporozhets" in history.
On April 15, 1998, JV "AvtoZAZ-DEU" was formed as a closed joint stock company on the manufacturing basis of JSC "Avtozaz" (CJSC "ZAZ" as of January 2003). The founders' contributions—$150 worth of property from OJSC Avtozaz and $150 million from Daewoo Motors—were used to create the authorized capital. The joint venture also comprised the Melitopol Motor Plant (Fracturing Plant AvtoZAZ-Motor), the Black Sea Plant of Automobile Units (Fracturing Plant ChZAA), and the Pologi Plant Iskra (Fracturing Plant Iskra) as independent businesses in addition to the principal firm in Zaporizhia.
UkrAvto acquired AvtoZAZ in 2002 after Daewoo Motors declared bankruptcy in 2001. All of AvtoZAZ's manufacturing facilities, principally MeMZ and the Black Sea Motor Plant, were converted into ZAZ. Even the company's logo has undergone a change. Daewoo's part (50%) in the joint venture was acquired by the Swiss business Hirsch & CIE in 2003.
A full cycle of passenger automobile manufacture, including stamping, welding, painting, body equipment, and car assembly, is presently exclusively available from PJSC "ZAZ" in Ukraine. The factory has developed and is continually upgrading a brand-new, high-tech production that is of the highest quality and complies with the criteria of the international standard ISO 9001 version 2000.
