German car tuner TECHART Automobildesign GmbH specializes on existing Porsches and offers comprehensive tuning packages for them. Thomas Behringer and Matthias Kraus launched the business in 1987 in Fellbach, and a year later it moved its headquarters to Leonberg, Germany. Techart kept customizing Porches into the 1990s.
997 GTStreet RS by TECHART
Jörg Hardt, driving a TechArt GT Street RS (based on a Porsche 997 GT2), set the quickest time in the annual Tuner Grand Prix on May 10, 2008, defeating Porsche tuner Cargraphic, who had won the previous three years in a row. Even though it is not official, it is commonly acknowledged that the Tuner GP champion is Europe's top tuner. The Porsche 911 GT2 (997-based Techart GTstreet RS completed the 3,671 meters of the Sachsenring in 1:31.94 minutes in late 2009. In the list of Auto Bild Sportscar, no other Porsche was quicker up until 2015.
