Spanish Touring Automobiles Company, or SEAT S.A., is a Spanish automaker that sells its cars under the SEAT and Cupra brands. Its English and Spanish pronunciations are /set/ and [seat], respectively. It was established on May 9th, 1950, as a joint venture between FIAT, Spanish commercial banks, and the state-controlled Instituto Nacional de Industria (INI), which possessed the majority interest. It swiftly rose to the position of Spain's top auto supplier. The Spanish government sold SEAT to the Volkswagen Group in 1986, ending its 36-year run as an independent carmaker that was publicly traded. SEAT is still a totally owned component of the Volkswagen Group.

SEAT S.A.'s corporate offices are situated in the Martorell industrial complex, close to Barcelona. Over 468,000 units were produced annually in 2020, and over 427,000 vehicles were sold and exported to more than 75 different nations.
