Intermeccanica (formally known as Construzione Automobili Intermeccanica) is a renowned automobile manufacturer founded in 1959 by Frank Reisner in Turin, Italy. The company has a rich history of producing high-performance sports cars and has evolved over the decades, moving its operations from Italy to the United States and eventually to Canada.

Early Beginnings and Innovations
Intermeccanica started as a manufacturer of tuning kits for European cars, including Renault, Simca, Peugeot, and DKW. These kits included dual throat carburetors, intake manifolds, high-performance cams, and oil filters. The company's first car was a Formula Junior single-seater using a Peugeot engine, introduced in 1960. This was followed by the production of 21 aluminum-bodied Intermeccanica-Puch (IMP) 500 cc-engined cars, one of which won at the Nürburgring.

Iconic Models and Collaborations
Intermeccanica is known for several iconic models, including:

Apollo GT: Produced from 1961 to 1965, this model featured larger American V8 engines and was designed by Franco Scaglione. A total of 88 Apollo GTs were made.

Italia: A larger GT sports car produced from 1966 to 1972, with approximately 500 units made.

Murena GT: Introduced in 1971, with only eleven models produced.

Indra: Developed in collaboration with Erich Bitter and Opel, this model was introduced in 1971.

Relocation and Replica Cars
In 1975, Intermeccanica relocated to Santa Ana, California, and began producing replica cars. The company introduced replicas of the Porsche 356 Speedster in 1976 and the Checker Taxi in 1979. In 1982, Intermeccanica moved to Vancouver, Canada, where it continues to operate today.

Modern Era and Current Offerings
Today, Intermeccanica is known as Intermeccanica International Inc. and is based in New Westminster, Canada. The company manufactures high-quality replicas of classic cars, including the 1959 Porsche 356 convertible and the 1940 World War II Volkswagen Kubelwagen "Type 82". Other products include the 1958 Speedster and "turbo look" versions of both the Roadster and Speedster.
