Impressions on Twitter/X — do they actually mean reach, or is it just vanity numbers?

So I’ve been paying more attention to the analytics on my X posts, and impressions always look way higher than the actual engagement. Like one post had 15k impressions but barely 40 likes and a handful of comments. I’m starting to wonder if those impressions mean actual people are seeing it, or if it’s just the app counting every scroll past. Do brands even care about impressions when they look at creators?

Yeah, I’ve thought the same. Impressions basically count every time your tweet shows up on someone’s screen, even if they don’t interact with it. It’s useful in some cases, like showing that your content is at least being distributed, but for sponsorships or growth, engagement is usually what gets checked. Some creators use tools like smm twitter to push impressions higher for credibility, but at the end of the day, retweets and replies tell the real story.
