Zarooq

Back in 2015, when things still made some sense, a company from the United Arab Emirates named Zarooq Motors suggested a bizarre off-road Sand Racer supercar that was ideal for high-speed sand dune hijinks. a powerful, street-legal Dakar racer with cup holders, leather seats, and rear-wheel drive exclusively, allowing you to go off-roading and get sick swinging your bum about in the desert.

In 2017, Zarooq reared its head once more with the announcement that it was entering production and forgoing the 300-horsepower V6 that was initially intended to power the Sand Racer in favor of a 525-horsepower, 6.2-liter GM LT1 V8. It appeared to be on Donkey Kong since there were only 35 that would be constructed, and some had already been sold.

However, appearances may be misleading. Sometime in 2018, Zarooq vanished from the face of the planet, and the dashing Sand Racer appeared to have been put on hold. However, it appears that Bruno Laffite, the operations manager for Zarooq, has founded his own business to revive the project under a new name: the Lafitte G-Tec X-Road. It resembles the Sand Racer exactly, even down to the strange closing line at the back of the doors that gives the appearance that the back is about to detach.
