Mahindra: A Legacy of Innovation and Resilience
Introduction to Mahindra Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, commonly known as Mahindra, is a prominent Indian multinational automotive manufacturing corporation headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Founded in 1945 by brothers J.C. Mahindra and K.C. Mahindra, along with Malik Ghulam Muhammad, Mahindra has grown to become one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in India and a global leader in various sectors, including automotive, agribusiness, and information technology.

Historical Journey Mahindra's journey began on October 2, 1945, when it was established as Mahindra & Mohammed in Ludhiana, Punjab. Initially, the company focused on steel trading. However, after the partition of India in 1947, Malik Ghulam Muhammad moved to Pakistan, and the company was renamed Mahindra & Mahindra. Recognizing the potential in the automotive sector, Mahindra ventured into manufacturing vehicles and began assembling Willys Jeeps under license from Willys Overland Corporation in 19472.

Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Mahindra expanded its product range to include light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and agricultural tractors. The company's collaboration with International Harvester in 1961 marked the beginning of its journey in the tractor manufacturing industry. By the 1980s, Mahindra had established itself as a leader in the Indian tractor market, a position it continues to hold today.
