Chery

Chery sells passenger automobiles under the Chery trademark and commercial vehicles under the Karry brand. Its main products include passenger cars, minivans, and SUVs.

In 1999, Chery started manufacturing cars, and in 2001, the company started exporting them from China. Since 2003, it has been China's top exporter of passenger cars, and in 2011, it exported around 25% of its whole output. It runs Qoros, a joint venture created in 2007 with Kenon Holdings that sells a variety of high-end automobiles in developing regions. In order to produce Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in China, Jaguar Land Rover and Chery established a 50:50 joint venture called Chery Jaguar Land Rover.

Chery has a number of facilities for the production of vehicle components and assemblies in mainland China. Chery vehicles are also assembled in about 15 other nations, primarily in facilities that are not owned by the company and that use knock-down kits that are either fully or partially completed. It invests around 7% of its total revenues in product development and has two domestic R&D facilities. The QQ3 may currently be used to refer to the original QQ, which was the firm's QQ city vehicle and is regarded as the most well-known Chery model. The business also produces the QQ6 and the QQme.

Chery has faced criticism for several alleged violations of foreign firms' intellectual property rights during the early 2000s. A number of Chery automobiles appear to have directly borrowed design cues from different international producers. Some people also take issue with the company's name, Chery, because it is similar to Chevy, the abbreviation for General Motors' Chevrolet brand.
