Over the years, Bertone has created designs for every major automaker, including Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lancia, Lamborghini, Mercedes Benz, and many more. 2014 saw the corporation declare bankruptcy.

Gruppo Bertone, sometimes referred to as Bertone, was an Italian industrial design firm with a focus on manufacturing, coachbuilding, and automotive style. It was previously a business that produced cars. The majority of the automobiles had a strong "family resemblance" even if they were badged by several manufacturers because to the distinctive Bertone style. Aston Martin, BMW, Citroen, Ferrari, FIAT, Iso, Lancia, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, and Volvo are just a few of the manufacturers for whom Bertone has styled vehicles. Two of the Lambretta motorscooter's subsequent designs were also created by the Bertone workshop.

The business was headquartered in northern Italian Grugliasco. Giovanni Bertone established Gruppo Bertone in 1912 as Carrozzeria Bertone. After World War II, designer Nuccio Bertone took over the business, and it was split into two divisions: Carrozzeria for manufacturing and Stile Bertone for style. Lilli Bertone, Nuccio Bertone's widow, led the business up to its bankruptcy in 2014. About 100 direct workers were employed there at the time of bankruptcy. The majority of staff lost their employment in 2014, and subsequent acquisitions did not take them on. Automobiles from the corporate museum were donated to Volandia and the Automotoclub Storico Italiano, among other institutions.
