Jaguar

Jaguar is the premium automobile brand of Jaguar Land Rover, a British multinational automaker with headquarters in Whitley, Coventry, England (UK: /daejur/, US: /dwr/). Up until its activities were fully integrated with those of Land Rover to become Jaguar Land Rover on January 1, 2013, the firm in charge of producing Jaguar automobiles was Jaguar Cars.

The Swallow Sidecar Company, the predecessor to Jaguar, was established in 1922 and first produced motorcycle sidecars before creating bodywork for passenger cars. Under the control of S. S. Cars Limited, the company expanded to include full automobiles produced in collaboration with Standard Motor Co, many of which had the Jaguar brand name.

In 1945, the business changed its name from S. S. Cars to Jaguar Cars. Following a merger with the British Motor Corporation in 1966, the expanded business changed its name to British Motor Holdings (BMH). In 1968, British Motor Holdings merged with Leyland Motor Corporation to become British Leyland, which was then nationalized in 1975.

In 1984, Jaguar, which had been separated from British Leyland, floated on the London Stock Exchange. From that point on, it was a part of the FTSE 100 Index until being purchased by Ford in 1990. The British Prime Minister has recently purchased vehicles from Jaguar; the most recent delivery was an XJ in May 2010. Additionally, the business has royal warrants from Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth II.

Ford held Jaguar Cars until 2008, when it sold them to Tata Motors after also purchasing Land Rover in 2000. Jaguar Land Rover was established by Tata as a subsidiary holding company. In order to create Jaguar Land Rover Limited, the operational business that designs, manufactures, sells, and owns the brands for both Jaguar and Land Rover cars, Jaguar Cars and Land Rover combined in 2013.

Since the time when Ford owned Jaguar and Land Rover, they have collaborated on technical projects at Whitley in Coventry and Gaydon in Warwickshire. Jaguar vehicles are also produced at Castle Bromwich and Solihull factories.

Jaguar Land Rover declared on February 15, 2021, that by the year 2025, all vehicles produced under the Jaguar brand will be entirely electrified.
