The British firm Bentley Motors Limited creates, develops, and produces high-end, mostly hand-built automobiles. It is a Volkswagen AG subsidiary. Bentley Motors Limited was established by W. O. Bentley on January 18, 1919 in Cricklewood, North London, and is now headquartered in Crewe, England.

W.O. Bentley started Bentley Motors. In 1919, the first automobile bearing his name rolled out of New Street Mews in London. From humble beginnings, the business became stronger than ever, relentlessly pursuing both luxury and performance.

This combination could seem contradictory if not for the company's five triumphs at Le Mans in the 1920s and its sixth in 2003. Then it may be mentioned that Bentley continues to produce the most renowned paradoxes on the road right now.

Nearly a century later, W.O.'s vision still directs our attitudes, deeds, and goals. Bentley Motors, based in Crewe, England, and owned by Volkswagen AG since 1998, continues to be the quintessential British luxury automobile manufacturer.

Bentley was incredibly successful in racing and breaking speed records in the 1920s, making several front page headlines. Le Mans was the first race Bentley won. Bentley won every year from 1927 to 1930.

W.O. was extremely forward about the business, marketing, and brand-building benefits he saw in backing motor racing. As long as the Daily Mail gave us their top page on a Monday morning, I would have been satisfied to watch our cars race around Le Mans in shameful solitary.

To prepare his Bentley for the 24-hour endurance race in 1923, W.O. collaborated with "Bentley Boy" John Duff and provided him with the services of Bentley Works driver Frank Clement. W.O. traveled to see the competition, and at that time W.O.
