Artega

Klaus Dieter Frers, a mechanical engineer who had previously worked for AEG-Telefunken and Nixdorf Computer, where he oversaw their manufacturing facilities from 1983 to 1987, invented Artega. Frers founded two businesses: paragon electronics GmbH in 1988 and paragon AG in 1999, which merged into paragon electronic GmbH. For the automobile sector, paragon AG specializes on electronic modules, controls, and display systems. Frers is a vehicle collector, a participant in antique racing, and one of the owners of Voltabox Deutschland GmbH.

In 2006, Frers established Artega Automobil. German brand-development specialist Manfred Gotta came up with the company's name.

Karl-Heinz Kalbfell, the main adviser, said in interviews in 2008 that a 4-cylinder automobile and a soft-top variant were the upcoming models that were anticipated.

Tresalia Capital, a Mexican investment company, took over Artega on January 25, 2010. Later, the company's management was changed, with Frers departing and Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Ziebart, a former CEO of Continental AG and Infineon AG, taking over as Artega's CEO.
